Final shaperead.m fixes pushed here:

The new shaperead.m will be part of the mapping pkg 1.4.2, hopefully released
soon.

dbfread.m is in the io package for which a new release can take several
months. However the new dbfread.m is available for download in this report or
better, here:
http://hg.code.sf.net/p/octave/io/file/tip/inst/dbfread.m  (click "raw").
