Follow-up Comment #39, bug #61812 (project octave):
Looking at the code in ax_cxx_compile_stdcxx.m4 in more detail, it looks like
it doesn't check for GNU extensions at all.
I misunderstood the documentation of that macro. We should probably just
remove the additional checks I wrote about before.
