Follow-up Comment #38, bug #62207 (project octave):

@Dmitri: if your ARM machine allows for it, could you build with
"-fsanitize=address,undefined" and see what messages it gives during "make
check"?

Also, can you confirm that there is no compiler dependence? That is, the
unpatched version crashes on "make check" with both GCC and Clang, and the
patched version does not crash with either compiler -- is this correct?
