Follow-up Comment #15:
after the other bug about hygepdf i've taken a look at vectorizing the last
three functions here (hygernd, hygecdf, hygeinv). hygernd (with a vectorizing
mod to hygpdf) wasn't too difficult, but the other two call it through
discrete_cdf and discrete_inv (core octave functions) which may be a bit
trickier. will see how it goes then upload changes. (can post as a git patch
if that's easier for the new repo.)
