Follow-up Comment #2, bug #63707 (project octave):
I have a slightly older java:
octave:3> version -java
ans = Java 19.0.1+10 with Red Hat, Inc. OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM mixed mode,
sharing
and I do not see the problem:
octave:1> test libinterp/octave-value/ov-class.cc-tst
PASSES 50 out of 50 tests
octave:2> ver

Perhaps it is a bug in your (bleeding-edge) java package?
