Follow-up Comment #5, bug #63740 (project octave):

our organization uses similar products. I suspect they'd want to see something
similar for version control/tracking if they were preparing octave for general
deployment via MS Software Center. 

I'm not sure where in the process that metadata is created, but if it's not
too onerous to update that string as part of building the launcher I think it
would be worthwhile.
