Follow-up Comment #2, bug #63909 (project octave):

I investigated the issue a bit and found that all of this happens when I use
the "Fusion Dark" theme. If I use the default theme, opening and saving
settings reverts to the usual behavior, but in dark mode it becomes a bit
frustrating to change settings. 

I reproduced the problem on Windows 10 (Intel i7 Sandy Bridge, old computer)
and on Windows 11 (AMD Ryzen 7 5700u). In both cases, the dark theme
significantly slows down the settings. 

Am I the only one experiencing this?
