Follow-up Comment #26, bug #63415 (project octave):

I've realized also that sometimes, when I start the GUI it does not open the
program, but if I inspect the running programs via ps -U user there are both
instances to octave and octave-gui processes and I need to kill octave-gui
manually. The problem is that this occurs randomly... (I'm running Debian and
Octave compiled from myself, in this case using the tar.gz for 8.1.0)
