How often do people come to us asking for an IDE vs. asking for a GUI?

John,
I do not know the answer to your question, but I think switching
to IDE
is a good idea anyhow. And, if it is to be switched, the sooner
the better.
Any comments should be made soon, so that this can be decided.

If someone asks for a GUI today, we have at least one - any time you
make a plot and use the mouse to interact with the plot you are
using a GUI. As time goes on we will certainly have other GUIs or
GUI generating facilities. Regardless of the popularity contest,
precise terminology will always have beneficial effects. That is
one of the basic tenets of good system engineering.
I probably sound like I care about this more than I really do, but
the longer we take to make a decision the more people will be
affected by it.
