As Carnë already pointed out, this statement is incorrect.
Not only Roberto presented his ability to contribute, but actually 
the code he presented is exactly in the area of the proposed project.

We were given two SOCIS slots in 2012, but unfortunately we don't seem 
to have enough interested mentors this year as many are already busy with GSoC,
so your last chance to be selected is that Roberto is not interested any
more in SOCIS and does not register, which might well be given the long delay
in the program schedule.
