Bashers and Diggers...

What's up with bashers and diggers in Pingus? It seems that I cannot get 
them to
continue digging even if it looks like they should. I only seem to be 
able to let them
take one byte out of the rock or whatever and then they stop. Is that normal
behaviour? It is certainly different behaviour compared to the Amiga 
Lemmings game
that I used to play a LOOONG time ago :-)
