Pingus is released under the GNU GPL license, so you most definitely can use
any part of it for you own projects (e.g. http://xpenguins.seul.org/),
provided you *do* give other people access to them in case you release your
game. For an overview, see for example http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPL .
