Hi there!
First of all, thank you for the hints on win9x installation :.) There
is something I thought of, considering winnt and newer nt-based
systems - 2k/xp.
The SYS program only makes msdos/win9x bootable installations - AFAIK
there is no similar tool for NT based systems. These install
different files for bootup. But the speed increase of copying the
system files from an existing winnt/2k/xp installation might be
achieved anyway.
It should be possible to boot bochs from the winnt cd and continue the
installation process, until the virtual hd is set up with partitions
and formatted file systems. After that, it should be possible to go
on as you pointed out, either mount the file via loopback or by using
winimage in windows. Then, boot bochs once again from the nt cd, and
chose to install windows. Setup is supposed to ask whether one wants
to repair the installed version found. Maybe it's worth a try, just
an idea... I'll try this ASAP.
Sincerely
Chris
