There has been quite a few changes on the master branch since 0.8.4
If we merge then release, it might be difficult, in the short term, to support
the release.

An alternative approach might be to release 0.8.5 from master -  with the 
understanding
that it'll be the last release linked against Gtk+2 -  then immediately merge.
Hopefully that'll give us time to discover any hidden Gtk+3 specific bugs before
0.8.6 (or whatever it might be called) gets released.
