how we pass 2 ints to display_msg_in_bar() which represent the start
and end offsets within the msg which we want to be drawn bold.

Either that or we realize that colours really are useless in
ratpoison and forget about it.

we should write a suite of compliance/stress testing utils.  it would
be nice to make changes to ratpoison and be able to run make test and
have a bunch of client programs try to break the wm.
