or just use xlsfonts -fn $selectedfontname ... oh, sigh, no useful
exit status, so you still have to grep for "unmatched".

Yeah, having defaults.font set to "fixed" and then setting it to your
selection by calling cmd_deffont(0, FONT_NAME) would be
cleaner/safer...
