I get your point and I'm deeply sorry it alarmed you. First let me
point that savannah is not currently announced to the public exactly
for the reasons you point out, and the message is precisely a warning
to the maintainers, as listed in the subversions.gnu.org
administrative files. In your case the mail was wrong and I could not
find it in the userv page so I used a search engine to find out. I
agree that the message that was sent does not say that savannah is not
currently public and that it should.

The current situation is that we are building savannah and
integrating all the projects that are using the subversions.gnu.org
CVS tree and the www.gnu.org web pages. The CVS repository for userv
existing on subversions.gnu.org so I assumed you had the intention to
put your software on it. For projects that are not referenced by
subversions.gnu.org in any way, we won't do any automatic integration,
exactly for the reasons you pointed out.

From a practical point of view it was necessary for us to integrate
the projects using CVS to savannah because it offers a *much* more
effective way to handle CVS write access distribution. It does not
require manual setting or mail interaction with the GNU volunteers and
this is a big win for everyone.

If you want userv to be completely removed from savannah.gnu.org I can
do that for you.

   Thank you in advance,
