A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden

If it already is an official GNU package, it will be approved shortly.
Otherwise it must be discussed on address@hidden for approval.

Werner Koch <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: GNU Docbook Tools
System name: db2any

Collection of tools to create documentation using the DocBook DTD.

There are already a couple of scripts and tools available and some GNU/Linux
distributions provide them all. However, there is no general framework for
it and the used scripts (e.g. under GNOME) are sometimes specific to one
distribution.

For the GNU Privacy Handbook (GnuPG manual) I use a script (db2any) which can
be used as a starting point. There are a lot of things missing or not
working very nice:

  * Generation of man pages requires a script which is not maintained anymore.

  * Generation of Texinfo from SGML is very ugly

  * Embedding graphics isn\'t easy

  * Postscript output does not look very nice

What we need is:

o A DSSSL program to generate texi or info from Docbook

  o configurable stylesheets

  o support in automake

o documentaion on how to use the system
