Hi,
The following project was submitted to Savannah. It needs evaluation to
become a GNU package, can you give it a look, please ?
Submitter: <address@hidden>
Project Full Name: The GNU SIP library
Project System Name: gsip
License: lgpl
Approval URL: https://savannah.gnu.org/admin/groupedit.php?group_id=171
Description: The LGPL gsip library provides an implementation of SIP described
by RFC2543 (www.ietf.org). SIP is the Session Initatiation Protocol. It is used
to initiate, modify and teminate mutimedia sessions. SIP handles registration
services and negociation of media. It is a telephony standard for VoIP which
aims to replace H323 and instant messaging applications. The SIP library can be
used in embedded systems (cellular) as well as for implementing proxy, gateway,
registration and conference servers. Port currently exist on GNU/Linux(2.2),
solaris (2.5) and VxWorks (RT OS).
SIP facilitates implementations of services for next generation telephony
networks. A LGPL SIP library should accelerate developpement of low cost
telephony and migation to a mail-model for "billing" phone calls.
(billing = 0$...)
The SIP stack (the gsip library) is still under heavy developpement. It already
provides minimal parser code, complete multithreaded transaction handling in
conformance to RFC2543 (through finite state machine). The applcation layer
controls the transaction with events and is aware of modification through a set
of callbacks. At this step, only a transactionnal API is provided. A higher API
(like connect()/disconnect()) should be provided in next developpement. The
stack currently use UDP (TCP is in next step) SDP used by SIP (rfc2723) is also
nearly finished. The stack is yet usable to developp IP phone on it.
