A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden
Dave Cost <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: OpenVDS
System name: openvds
This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project
OpenVDS will be the new home for the community of developers that are currently
developing the freevsd project (www.freevsd.org) which was abandoned by it\'s
sponsor (www.idaya.com) in favor of their provsd (www.provsd.com) commercial
product which is based partially on the open source code.
OpenVDS allows for multiple virtually independent unix servers to share the
same physical hardware, but to act as separate servers, each with its own IP,
administrator, services and chrooted environment. FreeVSD and now OpenVDS (Open
Virtual Dedicated Servers) is currently used by several of the developers and
supporters to provide secure hosting environment for customers.
The community consists of some 5 active developers + many entusiast.
The project itself is in a production/stable state, but is somewhat dated being
based on redhat 6.2 (we\'re actively working and have rh 7.2 beta versions
ready).
