A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden

Matthieu Sozeau <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: Genea
System name: genea
This package wants to apply for inclusion in the GNU project

The goal of this project is to create a free genealogy (file & database) format
and a library to access it. The format will be import/export-able from/to
GEDCOM files. It will be represented with XML files (i work currently on the
XShema files associated) and could be mapped to databases tables. The goal is
to make the databases accessible from everywhere (eventually through a
communication protocol like Corba or XMLRPC, i don\'t know).

A scripting language is also needed to make easy use of the library (something
similar or compatible with LifeLines).

The language will be C++ which can represent the hierachiy of genealogical
records and support distributed computing in an elegant way. Platform
independance is also an imporatant point than can be achieved by using
standards datatypes and abstract interfaces to the objects.

Since it is not a trivial work to develop such a library, i\'m asking for
help/comments. The first step is to design the format...

It does not exist yet but I\'m working on it.
