A package was submitted to savannah.gnu.org.
This mail was sent to address@hidden, address@hidden
Marcus Bjurman <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: GNOME Commander
System name: gcmd
This package does NOT want to apply for inclusion in the GNU project
GNOME Commander is file manager similar to Midnight Commander in text mode,
where you work with two directories at the same time and switch between them
with the TAB-key. This layout is different from most file managers but has been
proved in a couple of other both free and non free programs to be the most
efficient way of working with files.
The goal of the project is to make a program that is more comfortable to use
when manipulating alot of files. That means that the program does not create as
much cool graphics as nautilus but is a whole lot faster.
Besides the basic file handling functions the program also has basic FTP
support and CVS support is being worked on. Another feature that is planned is
browsing in to compressed files.
The program is written in C and uses GTK+ and GNOME for it\'s graphics. The
file handling is mostly done using GnomeVFS.
The project is currently hosted at Sourceforge:
