In general, we should accept licenses that start from the
GPL or LGPL and add additional permissions in coherent form
as special exceptions--provided that it is clear people
can remove the special exceptions from modified versions
of the program.
So they should change this exception to make it clear that the
exception can be removed. Here is wording to do that:
If you modify this library, you may extend
this exception to your version of the library, but you are not
obligated to do so. If you do not wish to do so, delete this
exception statement from your version.
So please suggest they add that.
As long as the special exception only gives additional permission, and
can be removed in modified versions, it is ok. It does not matter
what the additional permissions are. They can't hurt.
