Doug Gorley <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: DORA - Doug\'s Open Reporting Application
System name: dora
Type: non-GNU

Description:
DORA (Doug\'s Open Reporting Application) will be an open-source application
(still choosing a license, but definitely OSI approved, and probably GPL) tool
for providing simple web reports from an RDBMS. The desire for a simple tool
for accomplishing this arose from the tedious process needed to create a
Crystal Report and display it on the web. DORA will improve on this by:

  (1) Being completely web-based.
  (2) Being completely free.
  (3) Being simple to install, configure and use.
  (4) Being incredibly flexible in its output format.

The real power of DORA is the ability to define your own output format using
the Template Toolkit (http://www.template-toolkit.org/). A DORA report will
essentially consist of a SQL query and an output template. This will allow the
user to return their results in HTML, plain text, LaTeX, Postscript, CSV, XML,
or any other format they desire.

DORA is currently still in the design phase, and as such there is currently no
code to show you. (Sorry!)

Other Software Required:
(1) Perl
(2) Perl modules available on CPAN (DBI, Template Toolkit, CGI, other free
modules)
(3) Perl modules written by the author, and released under a free license
(4) One of the open-source RDMBS\'es currently available (planned to run on
MySQL and PostgreSQL)
