Hisham Kotry <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: Hurd-net
System name: hurd-net
Type: non-GNU

Description:
Hurd-net is the GNU/Hurd\'s new network stack, a drop-in replacement for the
current pfinet translator. It\'s goals are
i) modularity, the ability to support multiple layer-3 modules without
sacrifying performance.
ii) performance, using zero-copy techniques, L4Kas fast IPC and smart-design
choices (following the latest researches in the field) we could achive better
performance.
iii) being a refrence implementation for future implementers of similar
projects.
iv) Filling in one of the missing parts of the GNU system.
There currently exsists a UDP/IP implementation with sockets atop of it, the
code is not available anywhere yet, but I could assure you that no patented
algorithms were used, code copied from other refrence implementations or what
so ever.

Other Software Required:
None, Only the libraries that come as part of the GNU/Hurd.
