Thanks for the report. I found the problem- the next snapshot will
contain a fix.

(The problem was an optimization causing matrices or colortransforms
 not to be set in placeobject tags in case they were the "unit
 transforms". Hence the last step (setting alpha to 100%) was omitted,
 and alpha stayed at 70%)
