Maybe you can compile swftools and see if that helps.
I already saw some problems with other application in Snow Leopard.
For example with ffmpeg:

They said to add --arch=x86_64 to configure args.

Try to ask on macports mailing... Probably they know I to solve it.

Although, this can be a bug in swftools, I don't know.
