While reading the diff between TeXmacs-1.0.0.8 and TeXmacs-1.0.0.9 I
noticed that the document was updated in a strange way.
In the session.tex file, the text:
Starting from 1.0.0.8, TeXmacs supports QCL 0.4.3 or newer. Users of
older versions should upgrade.
becomes
Starting from 1.0.0.9, TeXmacs supports QCL 0.4.3 or newer. Users of
older versions should upgrade.
It looks like an overkilling substitution to me... By the way, why is
the current version of TeXmacs duplicated in so many places in
documentation. Not only that makes changing it difficult (leading to
that kind of stupid and destructive bug), but that also make reading
the diff tedious since there is a lot of noise due to the version
upgrade.
Why not simply use a symbol in config.hh, like:
#define TM_VERSION "1.0.0.9"
and the fact that
"version: " TMVERSION
is exactly the same as
"version: 1.0.0.9"
The few additional places in the documentation where the version must
appear verbatim could use, say, a .sty file which generated by the
configure script and define the \tmversion command.
