Just for my information, can you tell me how you installed GUILE? TeXmacs does weird things to try to guess the installation directory of GUILE. I have been told that can be useful with unusual installations of GUILE, but I had no examples. Most of the time, GUILE is just able to find its own stuff without need for TeXmacs to set GUILE_LOAD_PATH (as it currently does) or for the user to set GUILE_LOAD_PATH (as you did). What were the 'configure' and 'make' option you used?
For the Installation of Guile I did only use the --depraceted=yes option because in the Install-Guide for TeXmacs Guile1.3* was mentioned and I first thought that this may be the reason. For TeXmacs I didnt use any options. Maybe it would work to ask the guile-config script with the option info, then u know where the sources of guile are and the init-script of TeXmacs can automatically set the GUILE_LOAD_PATH Variable.
