I am using Debian sid (unstable) with texmacs install via apt-get install texmacs/experimental -t experimental
this brough me the version 1.5.10
The problem seems to be related with mouse movements more than with the object to be drawn. There is a big delay between when I start moving the mouse and when I really see the movement, THe only trick I found was that if I start to move it slowly and let the symbol appear then I can keep mooving in real time.

I don't know from where it stems. I remember that we spend some time solving
speed problems, but it was in the context of drawings with lots of stuff inside,
not something that started to be slow from the very beginning.

These are messages I get when launching from shell.

Uncaptured gc(!sticky) insert #f, -0.254018, 4.01877
Uncaptured gc(!sticky) insert #f, 2.98451, -2.31011
Uncaptured gc(!sticky) insert #f, 2.51884, 1.20358

Those are the usual console messages you get when you click
somewhere on a void part of the drawing. Or is it that you
are obtaining those by doing something else (i.e., moving
the mouse) ? That would be an undiscovered bug, then.

And also : do you encounter the same kind of slowness
problems with other parts of TeXmacs (i.e., big equations) ?

So I don't know : either it is because you use an experimental
version of Debian, or either it is a problem with TeXmacs.

Are there other people that experience the same kind of
slowness problems with the drawings in TeXmacs ?

this is the messagge I get with uname -a
Linux majorana 2.6.12-1-k7 #1 Tue Sep 27 13:22:07 JST 2005 i686 GNU/Linux

OK, so this is a recent one...
