IIRC, it always did that. It predates the existence of auto flip view as an option. It seems OK to me to change it.

Is this to be considered a bug? I could not think of any reason that would
make it imperative to switch the view back to white POV on 'New Game'. It
just seems a form of auto-flipping to me. (I am not even sure if WinBoard
has always done this. or if it is something I inadvertantly introduced.)
