Wait, you only need this if you want the full rail-to-rail output of
the oscillator (which consumes more power).  Sure, if you're trying to
attach an oscilloscope with a too low input impedance, you won't *see*
anything without CKOPT (as the oscillation will abort as soon as you
attach the 'scope), yet without the heavy load, the oscillator would
run anyway.

So unless you really need that feature (or power consumption is
nothing of your concern anyway), you don't need to select CKOPT.
