Do you want just a programmer, or do you want a debugger interface too? Have you thought about which AVR devices you will use?How cost sensitive are you? There are answers to your question from $10 to $300.
Are you in the USA or should we not point you at US distributors?Nobody has suggested the $50 AVR Dragon (DigiKey). Might that be because nobody is using it with a Mac?
