All BSD systems have Gnu Make (gmake) as a port (package). And many
other ports
depend on it. So Axiom should just require that port as well.

... and a gawk package. The axiom main branch also requries a bash, also available as package. In fact, from my point of view these are only minor problems - that means: easily solvable. I think more serious is the gcl version lag at least for FreeBSD where 2.6.7 is current. regards Gernot
