Follow-up Comment #3:

This has been implemented.

To get it work at this stage, check out the Xiphos source from the project's
subversion server.

To checkut xiphos:
svn co https://gnomesword.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/gnomesword/trunk
xiphos

Then download the patch to the top of the Xiphos source tree, apply it with
"patch -p0 -i ipc.patch", re-run autogen.sh, and make.

Then use Bibledit version 3.8.69 or higher, switch sending of references to
Xiphos on, and there you go!
