Thank you for your advice.  Unfortunately, this did not do the trick for me.
The capitalization still "sticks".

I'm not sure if it will help you or not (I'm using an OS/2 pserver
on a case preserving but case insensitive file system not a *nix
server on a case sensitive one), but it might be worth trying
making a comment only change to tkwinX.c, and then issuing
   cvs commit tkwinx.c
On my setup, this has the effect of changing the case of the
repository file.

Your mileage may well vary,
