The following URL has a link to a patch (form Emacs 20 only?) which
allows Emacs to load functions from a shared library (so/dll). Thus,
you would have to patch Emacs only once. From then on, you could just
put stuff into your shared libraries instead.

That sound like a good idea. Shouldn't we add such a thing to Emacs?
