Unfortunately, the ASUS P2B-LS motherboard BIOS doesn't include an
option to disable the onboard NIC. Most newer motherboards I've got do
have such an option but that board is too old. It's possible there is a
newer version of the BIOS available with that feature but I haven't
checked. 

I'm not sure how Linux handles this situation but it allows me to use
eth1 even though eth0 is broken.
