I actually sent a patch for this, but it was rejected -- I think
it caused problems for native 2.4 python.

Also, convert-ly requires decorator functions (I think that was
the name), which are another 2.4 feature.


I should clarify another point: out of all the main developers, I
know the least about python and cross-platform building.  I'm just
discussing these points with you because I happen to have time at
the moment, and I remember (most) of the answers from when I asked
these questions in the past few years.  :)
