It appears when compiling within the LilyPond 2.19.45 application that comes
with the MacOS distribution. In the compile text, I get a mixture between
Swedish and French, set in this order below the English settings. Tried with a
number of English: US, UK, Australia Canada, plain. FYI, Persian was also
ignored. :-)
In my 'lilypond' script, I have set
export LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8
export LANG=en_US.UTF-8
exec /Applications/LilyPond.app/Contents/Resources/bin/lilypond "$@"
MacOS has natively not the "en_US." prefixes, which cause problems in the
compile, as some LilyPond components expect that. There might be a similar
issue here.
