ftp://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/parted/bootdisk/README

I'm attempting to make a boot floppy for parted by following the
instructions in the subject file, but am having problems. The instructions
say to download a boot image and a root image. The boot image is fine: I
download partboot.img, copy to a floppy, and it boots and asks for a second
disk. However, there is no partroot.img file. I downloaded
partroot-1.6.6.gz instead and unzipped it.  I expected to get an image file;
but the file I got was over 3 Mb! I tried to make the second floppy by
copying the .gz file to an ext2 system on a floppy, but got a Kernal panic;
evidently this is not the way to go.

How is this boot disk supposed to work? Doesn't the README need to be
changed, at least for newbies like me?
