Thank you for your report.

Unfortunately, I cannot reproduce this on my system, using the
gpc.info file you sent and Info 4.0.  (I also tried the latest pretest
version 4.0d, with identical results.)  Info works as expected for me:
to select the second menu item, I put the cursor on that item and
press [Enter].

Is it possible that your terminal interprets the 8-bit character c
with caret in some special way?  If so, it means that you might need
to turn off the ISO-Latin variable, or use stty to change the setup of
your terminal.
