I'm checking texinfo.tex from CVS 2003-11-24 how it formats
groff.texinfo.
I'm *not* happy that the font for variables has been changed from
slanted roman to slanted typewriter in @defXXX commands. In groff,
the syntax asks for insertions of many literal items, and it is quite
difficult to make a distinction between a slanted ' and a normal '
(see attached old.png and new.png). Another example is how escape
sequences are accessed in groff: `\X', `\(XX', or `\[XXX]' (X, XX, and
XXX are variables, `\', `\(', and `\[...]' are literals. Again, the
difference between normal and slanted typewriter is not sufficient
IMHO.
If you really want to do that, what is the `texinfo' way to change
that back to the old behaviour?
