Very glad the new version eventually worked.

    Please remove trailing whitespace from the new file.  

texinfo.tex (and other Texinfo source files) have always had trailing
whitespace.  It's a long story, but it's actually convenient for me, and
I don't plan to systematically remove it.  Sorry.  

   On the third hand ...

Just random nonsense from my brain :).  (I don't see it now, by the
way, although I do remember writing it at one point.)

I haven't read The Gripping Hand, but I'll look it up :).
