Hi,
I've been working with Gary to fix the m4 manual on gnu.org and he's run into a problem with gendocs.sh. Apparently, there is an "index" keyword in the m4 macros and when gendocs creates that node it overwrites the real index. I think Gary was going to try to do some creative renaming, but is there a more general solution to this (like prepending generated keyword docs, etc)?

Thanks,

Derek

I had a brainwave, and pulled the latest maintain.texi from fencepost,
which has a reference to gendocs.sh. I pulled the script and template
from CVS, and just committed a fresh set of M4 docs from the 1.4 branch.
Everything should work fine as soon as cron synchs the live pages with
CVS.

Thanks for the prod ;-)

I just checked today and the link problem is still there. Could this be a problem with the manual or translation scripts? Is it correct in the version that you generated locally?

Thanks. I naively assumed the scripts would to the right thing.
Ultimately, I think the script does the wrong thing since it overwrites
it's own index with the node describing the M4 Index macro. I'll see
if I can work around it with some creative renaming and reupload.

Thanks for catching that. Can you also inform the maintainer of the
gendocs scripts of the error please?

Cheers,
        Gary.
