The current texinfo.tex has for Latin-1 (that is ISO-8859-1), (in
\latonechardefs)

\gdef^^b7{$^.$}

that is, a superscripted full stop. Maybe it should be \cdot instead.
The same could be used in \utfeightchardefs.

I don't know how ŀ and Ŀ should be supported.
