  Hello all,

On Wed, 21 Jun 2006, Mark D. Baushke wrote:
I think you have misunderstood my previous e-mail messages.

One reason I suggested opening dialogue with address@hidden

 Oh, Okay!

Let me try again.
Goal:
Any client (CVS or CVSNT) should be able to connect to any server
(CVS or CVSNT) and do as much as possible to use the union of the
      feature sets of both.

No, to be honest, I never thought/think about all this.

...see! my development efforts are purely based on * their need *. That makes me feel, they are justified.

It all started with, my starting to use CVS on my machine. Along the way, (when)I had to change my password, what I used to do was, to copy encrypted password from /etc/shadow to CVSROOT/passwd; which eventually got me irritated. And that got me started with `cvs passwd`.

...I named it 'passwd' after Unix/Linux 'passwd' command. Because that's what I've used always, to change my password. I didn't have any scientific thoughts/reasons behind it.

Let's make it more simple and straight forward.

I've this patch for CVS, which I'm willing to submit back to CVS.

I absolutly don't have any concerns about what the name of the command is,
or anything but the facility to change my password whenever I want to do so.

You know, it really makes me feel bad, when(even today) people ask me, how can they change their CVS password, and I've to tell them to send their encrypted password to the administrator and ask him to paste it into CVSROOT/passwd file(which sometimes takes days to happen).

Soooo...... I'll suggest

  - You all decide & tell me the name and alias of the command I should
    use.

  - From now onwords, I'll also have a look at cvsNT passwd source so as
    to make it more compatible.

  - and whatever you tell me, should I take care of.

By the way, the attached file contains the patch(cvs-chpass) for ccvs.20060620174602Z.tar.bz2 top-of-tree cvs source.

Could someone please have a look at it?. since Mark is unable to do it.

Derek would you see to it ??
