Re: Net names in gds files

Is net name search and selection possible when importing gds files
into Electric? By this I mean something similar to Milkyway where one
can query nets by name or by selecting them with the mouse. I
understand that various gds viewers/editors use different file formats
and methodologies to include net name information. Does Electric have
the ability to do this?

Electric does not currently read any connectivity information from GDS files, nor does it have a node extractor that can create such information. I am interested in improving the GDS reader to include connectivity, so if you, or anyone out there, knows how to get this information out of other CAD systems, and what the format is, let me know.

Also, is it possible to "goto" a particular
coordinate location in a gds file? I haven't find anything about it yet
in the documentation.

Not directly, but here's a hack:

Create a pin and drop it anywhere. Do "Get Info" and type the coordinate that you want into it's location field. Now the pin jumps to that place. To pan to that location, use Windows / Center / Selection. Now delete the pin.
