gcc 3.1 OK for gnustep?

hi folks

I had compiled gnustep on my freebsd box with gcc 3.1.  Things compiled 
OK, with some warnings, but I experienced some funny behavior with 
GORM/Proj. Center, so I was going to rebuild everything.

I have not scene notes that categorically state that gcc 3.1 has 
problems, but have scene it for certain platforms (e.g. Solaris).  
Which version of gcc should I be using?  I assume 3.1 is OK, but wanted 
to be sure before I rebuilt.
