I've never tried it but AFAIK, currently, it doesn't support
WebObjects tags (it seems to support tags like <#>), .woo nor EOF3
(i.e. gdl2).
It supported WEBOBJECT tags since the beginning (something like 1996) -
back then it was a major goal to be compatible to WO to be able to
reuse their documentation resources. Yet this was turned off for about
six months since it isn't required by OGo itself (which only uses #
tags), but now .woo as well as WEBOBJECT tags are back in SOPE.
The # tags are just a shortcut and basically the same syntax:
<#Str/>
is the same like
<WEBOBJECT NAME="Str"></WEBOBJECT>
much faster and convenient for new templates written by hand.
GDL2 should work just fine with SOPE, though I never tried (mostly
because I follow Dave's opinion regarding EOF). And this is obviously
completely separate to the actual implementation of the WO *framework*.
Anyway: SOPE:X (the OSX port of SOPE), is going to include GDL2 to
attract more WO developers.
With some other people, I still work on GNUstepWeb, support it and
improve it because compatibility with applications based on GNUstepWeb
is far from being a reality (and the reciprocical may be true),
because I currently don't share some Helge's opinion and for some
other few things.
Well, I'm surprised, so far I have no real input from you!
A) What do we need to reach "compatibility with applications based on
GNUstepWeb" (I guess support some non-WO API you added to gstep-web?)
A.1) do you (or someone else) have any OpenSource applications which
would
need to run prior a move to SOPE?
B) what exactly is the opinion you don't share?
I would love to see some discussion which leads to a better solution.
Eg its ridiculous that you need to start working on proper WO template
parsers if they are all done and ready in SOPE!
best regards,
Helge
